I love it when a plan comes together

Late last week/early this week my travel plans for the next months fell into place. I was waiting for the school to announce whenit would be closed (since I'm a GA, I'm on the admin calendar, rather than the student calendar). They finally did that last week, and things have fallen rather nicely into place. I'm going down to Richmond for T'giving, but probably stopping in DC on Tuesday/Wednesday to try to see folks there for a bit. I'm going to Oregon to see my dad for X-mas - leaving on the evening of the 22nd and coming back on the 30th. He rented a house on the coast, near Cannon Beach, and my aunts and maybe my uncle will join us there for the holiday.
Finally being able to book my x-mas travel has allowed me to take advantage of an Expedia promo, where if you book with them before 9 Dec, they'll give you a coupon for future travel. The catch is that you have to use the coupon before 31 March. But, I remembered last week that I'm taking the Foreign Service Oral Assessment in early March...in San Francisco! So its perfect! (And any of you California types, I need help planning my trip!)
Registration for spring semester begins next week, and there as an open advising session at the school Monday. I waited in line for almost an hour to see an advisor - my official advisor is often absent - but it was worth it, because I got a very pleasant surprise. One of the courses I'm taking this semester unexpectedly completes my Human Rights specialization, which gives me a free slot for an elective next semester. I don't have a choice in my other two classes - I have to take Research Project, and the only way to finish my Africa specialization is by taking Comparative Political Economy - but at least I'll have the elective to play with.
